Is Baby High Chair necessary?

Absolutely!

A high chair offers a level of safety and convenience at mealtime for your baby. I can not imagine feeding my babies without a high chair.

They are specifically designed for feeding time, and therefore will keep your baby safe and in place for mealtime. And because babies are confined to one spot while eating, cleaning the mess is super easy.

Another advantage of having a high chair is that you can have your baby sit and play safely on a high chair, while you do your house chores and have a peaceful meal!

At what Age should a Baby go in a High Chair?

Baby goes in a high chair when you introduce solids to your baby. The introduction of solid usually happens at around 4-6 months of age depending upon the recommendation of your pediatrician.

However, experts recommend introducing solids to a baby at 6 months of age. Here are a few indications that your baby is ready for solid food

  • Hold their head up
  • Sit unsupported and lean forward
  • Pick up food and bring it to their mouth (develop Pincer grip)
  • Turn their head away when they are full

Introducing solid at 6 months also lowers your baby’s risk of developing food allergies. So, do not rush into introducing solid to your baby.

Can a 3-month-old sit in a High Chair?

No, 3 months is too early for your baby to sit in a high chair.

As mentioned earlier, the recommended age for using a high chair for babies are 6 months when they start solid. However, if your baby is physically ready – like sit up unsupported and hold their head up, you can have them sit in a high chair when they are between 4-6 months old.

How can I get my baby to eat without a High Chair?

Feeding a baby without a high chair is not impossible but it certainly is messy and not convenient. You can have your baby sit on your lap and feed them.

This may work while your baby is still young. Once they are mobile, it will be impossible to keep them in your lap without grabbing your food plate.

Conclusion

It is important to invest in products that your kids use every day. I hope you have found one that you like from this list of non-toxic high chairs for babies.

Keep in mind that quality does cost money and there are not very many varieties out there when you are trying to find environmentally friendly, non-toxic things for your babies.
